There are a lot of things out there that can distract you from what you’re trying to accomplish. Whether it be sports, entertainment, politics, or that day job that you just know is not your long-term career, there are countless distractions that, if you let them, can derail you from even coming close to reaching your ultimate goal and purpose in life.
Well, as of yesterday, the Superbowl is now set. There’s only one game left in America’s most popular sport. It’s the off-season in baseball. Basketball has yet to reach the playoffs in both the pros and college. There’s really not much happening on the entertainment front to speak of. The weather is freezing cold, at least in the northern half of the country, and many people are content to just stay home for the next couple months until the temperature starts to go back up. What I’m trying to say here is that, although we as Americans always have a ton of things that could potentially distract us from what’s really important, there may not be a better time of year to capture people’s attention from now until the end of March.
For home business owners, this is the time to get to work because you will never have a more captive audience of prospects than you do right now. People have less distractions, less excuses and more time to think about their financial situation now than any other time of year. With all of the people who are unemployed, under-employed and just flat-out unhappy with their current job, combined with the cold weather and lack of distractions, it’s prime-time for growing your list of prospects and laying the foundation for the rest of the year in terms of building your network marketing business.
For those that have yet to start their own home based business, I will give it to you straight. Before I do that though, let me ask you a few questions, and be honest with yourself when you answer.
Are you seriously happy with where your life is at right now?
Are you satisfied, on a daily basis, with your job or small business? Honestly, do you love what you do, and would you do it even if you didn’t get paid, assuming you had enough money and necessities from other means?
Do you know of a better solution that could offer you more time and money and a better lifestyle than a home based business or network marketing?
If you’ve answered these questions the way I think you have (if you’ve been completely honest with yourself) then it’s time to make some drastic changes. Am I right? I mean, you could keep doing what you’re doing, but then again, that will just keep getting you what you’re currently getting, which is more than likely, not what you really want out of life. You want to be happy, and in order for that to happen, you are going to need a sufficient amount of money, and the time to enjoy that money and do the things you really want to do on a daily basis, rather than go to work for someone else doing a job that you’re not really passionate about.
So while the conditions might be perfect to start your home business right now, honestly, the conditions are ALWAYS perfect. No matter what time of year it is, no matter what the weather’s like or what kind of sports or entertainment are on TV, if you really want to be successful and make meaningful change, it comes down to desire and making a clear-cut decision to do it right now. In other words, cut the crap and start to open your mind to one of the very few options you have to create financial freedom in your life. If you’ve been wavering, or skeptical, or ignorant of the opportunity that awaits you if you just reached out and grabbed it, then it’s time to WAKE UP! Stop making excuses, and start developing a backbone and making strong DECISIONS. Make the decision to start a home business and to achieve financial independence with that home business. It will be the most fulfilling thing you can do in this life to earn money, and it will buy your life back in terms of free time and lifestyle choices. Continue to sit on the sidelines, or make excuses, or wander off and get caught up in more useless distractions (e.g. TV, entertainment, etc.) and suffer the consequences.
I don’t want to hear any more complaints from people about their lives if they’re not willing to invest in themselves through a home business. Seriously, if you’re not willing to make the decision to change, put forth the time and effort necessary to succeed, and come up with a minuscule amount of start-up capital to turn your life around, then I can’t do anything for you, and no one else can either. You’re hopeless, and you deserve whatever you’re handed in life in terms of finances and lifestyle.
Personally, I am now more resolved than ever to build my network marketing business and to assist others who want to start their own home based business to become profitable and create the life they truly deserve. I’ve made the decision to create a lifestyle for myself, and to help as many people as possible create that awesome lifestyle as well. I hope other home business owners will be inspired by this post to take action now and really start to build your business, no matter what company you’re affiliated with. As for everyone else, I sincerely hope you’ve made the decision by now to take control of your financial future and finally get on board with a leader and business team that are going somewhere. It’s time to experience success and true happiness. It’s time to start a home based business.

Among all the negative garbage that is constantly slung at the network marketing industry (unfairly I might add) is the myth that most network marketing products are overpriced. While this may be true of select products sold by some companies, for the most part, this is just another lie made up by critics to explain why network marketing is a scam.
The network marketing business model is far from a scam (although there are many unscrupulous network marketing companies out there that choose not to play by the rules and are in fact pyramid schemes), and most network marketing products sold by the larger, legitimate companies are not overpriced. They are, in most cases, actually higher quality than similar products you’d find at your local retail stores.
The most popular line of products in network marketing, and therefore the most attacked, is health or nutritional products. These products are often attacked not only for their price, but also for making “unsubstantiated claims” about the health benefits of taking them. These same critics refuse to acknowledge the very real testimonials by the people who have actually used the products and experience the benefits, and these people include not just distributors but also outside customers. They also fail to realize the amount of legitimate research, clinical trials, studies and patents that the bigger nutritional network marketing companies employ on a yearly basis. These companies include Amway (Nutrilite), Herbalife, Shaklee and others.
As an example, let’s take a look at the Nutrilite Double X multivitamin, one of the higher priced network marketing health products on the market today. The suggested retail price for Double X is $76.89 for a 31-day supply with the case. You might be thinking, “I could get a multivitamin at GNC or buy a One-a-Day or Centrum at my grocery store for a fraction of that price.” Yes, you can. But there’s this little thing that comes into play called quality. It should always matter, but when it comes to your health, it’s essential. It’s the one thing, if forced to choose, that you should definitely not skimp on. But what makes this particular product so good other than the fact that I say it is?
For starters, there are countless testimonials, some documented and some not, that agree with me and think it’s the best dietary supplement you can find. But beyond that, it helps to know that Nutrilite is the only dietary supplement company to grow, harvest and process plants on its own certified organic farms. The same holds true for cleaning and home care products, personal care products and jewelry.
Are there exceptions? Of course. Are some products manufactured by some companies overpriced? Sure. But for the most part, the higher cost of network marketing products is justified, because there is a significant difference in quality and true value. With network marketing, it turns out the old adage is true: You get what you pay for!
Don’t let the “Gurus” Fool You: The Company You Choose is Extremely Important
There’s been a lot of talk the past few years of branding yourself online as an expert and someone who provides valuable content in order to succeed in network marketing. “You Inc.” has been promoted as being much more important than the company you are partnered with: you know, the one that manufacturers and sells the products, pays you and allows the very opportunity that you are marketing to exist. Someone on the outside looking in could see why your network marketing company is just as important as your ability to brand yourself, yet network marketers often lose sight of this fact after months or years of reading online articles and training to the contrary.
Here’s the deal: Yes, it is technically possible to build “any” network marketing company, online or offline, if you go about it the right way. And yes, in the long run, the skills you possess and the following you build up is just as critical to your long-term success and the company you’re affiliated with. But to discount the importance of being with a stable company with quality products is ridiculous.
You should be marketing outstanding products that you enjoy using yourself and that you feel could be beneficial to others. You should have a profitable, stable, quality company that stands behind you so you know they aren’t going to screw you on your paycheck or go out of business in three years. Once you’ve selected this company and made the decision to be in business with them for life, then it’s time to start building your marketing skills and people skills, along with plugging into your company’s training and proven duplicatable system. Of course, the leadership, or upline you choose to work with and be mentored by is also of extreme importance, but if you pick the right company, this should not be too hard to find.
But before you get to that point, you are going to have to research the top network marketing companies and see which one is the best fit for you. Products do matter. The compensation plan does matter. How long they’ve been in business, their standing with the Better Business Bureau, the quality of their products, their profitability, their corporate leadership: these things do matter a great deal, no matter what any online “guru” would have you believe.
Unless you want to have a network marketing career where you jump around from one company to the next, with no clear plan of action and losing money at every stop, then I suggest you do your due diligence in picking the right network marketing company at the outset. Everything else will fall into place later, and you’ll be much better positioned for long-term success.
I’ve already predicted that 2011 will be a huge year for the network marketing industry. But if the past 50 years are any indication, January in particular will be a monumental month for the home based business industry.

I believe the growth will be dramatic and quick, making network marketing one of the top career options for forward-thinking people by the end of the winter.
We are at a unique point in the history of the home based business industry. Although this has been said many times before, right now is truly the best time ever to get involved and start your own home based business.
