There are about 5,000 network marketing opportunities in the world right now. Some of them are brand new, others have been around for years or decades. Some will be out of business before the end of 2011, while others will surely spring up to replace them. But at any given time, there are around 5,000 network marketing companies.

The amazing thing is, about 4,800 of these companies, or 96% of them, sell nutritional or health and wellness products. Most only deal with this type of product line, and many only have one nutritional product that their whole opportunity is based off of.

Health and wellness, and in particular, diet and weight loss, just might be the most competitive, saturated market in the world right now, considering all of the companies that aren’t in direct sales that carry these types of products.

But certainly within network marketing, health and wellness is the overwhelming favorite product line, and everyone thinks their liquid vitamin, superfood, or magic potion is the best, the purest, the most effective, etc.

You’ve heard all the claims. “It cures diseases. You’ll never get sick. You will have unbelievable amounts of energy. This is the only nutritional product you’ll ever need.”

Sure, they all sound great, especially when the people doing the talking and writing the reviews are all distributors and have a vested interest in you buying the product or joining their business team. And I’m not saying there aren’t some fantastic nutritional MLM products out there, because there are. But just like overall network marketing opportunities, you should only seriously consider a select few.

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that besides Amway, the only companies worth even thinking about joining are Avon and Herbalife. But when assessing product quality in terms of the health and wellness MLM’s, (this obviously excludes Avon) there are a few more that you might want to research.

First, let me say that Herbalife does have a very good reputation for their dietary supplements and by all accounts people are very happy with them. From the research I’ve done, they do appear to have very high quality products that undergo strict processing standards and are the result of much scientific research.

Shaklee is another one of the old guard companies that has a great reputation for nutritional products. They’ve been one of the leading companies in the U.S. for health and wellness since 1956.

Then you have fairly newer network marketing companies that have developed a solid reputation for vitamins and supplements such as Usana, Vitamark and Immunotec.

But once again, and I hate to be biased (actually I don’t), Nutrilite is way out in front of all of these nutritional network marketing companies and all of the non-network marketing opportunities out there too.
